Our Story

Sunny Side Up opened in 2024 on Choengmon Road in Bophut, a short walk from Choeng Mon Beach. Founder Metin Lierz started the café with one clear goal: to bring healthy breakfast, great coffee and real matcha to Koh Samui.

Too often, breakfast on the island meant a hotel buffet or a quick plate on the go. We wanted a place where you could sit down to food made from scratch every morning, paired with coffee and matcha prepared with care.

Meet the Team

Metin Lierz – Founder

Metin runs the café day to day and sets the direction for everything we serve, from the coffee to the menu.

Maksut – Head Chef

Maksut leads our kitchen and creates our signature dishes, like the Sunny Chili Cheese Eggs, the Truffled Cream Cheese Bread and our vegan pancakes.

What We Serve

Breakfast is served all day, Monday to Saturday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. We use organic eggs, toasted sourdough and buttery croissants. Our granola, jams, chili oil, chili mayo and truffle cream cheese are all made in house.

Our matcha is premium Japanese matcha, whisked fresh for every cup, and our espresso drinks are brewed to order. Most of the menu can be made vegan, including our pancakes and vegan bacon.
